Koirala's health deteriorates; admitted to Gangalal Heart Centre

Health of the Nepali Congress president Girija Prasad Koirala has deteriorated again Sunday evening.

Minister for Foreign Affairs Sujata Koirala speaks to media after visiting...
He has been rushed to Gangalal National Heart Centre, Bansbari. A battery of specialist doctors from India have also arrived in Kathmandu for his treatment. Koirala's family sources have said, he was taken to the hospital for the convenience of doctors and nurses who were making errands from the hospital to his residence in Mandikhatar.

Large number of media persons and political leaders have thronged the hospital to take stock of Koirala's health.

Koirala had recently shifted to his daughter Sujata Koirala's residence in Mandikhatar after Sujata returned from Europe tour on March 11.

Nepali Congress leaders said they are unaware of the latest health condition of their party president. The leaders have gathered at the parliamentary party office to chart out party's view if Maoists tabled vote of no confidence against the current coalition government.

Girija Prasad Koirala shifted to Mandikhatar with view to take rest and remain away from daily political activities. He had remained busy for last few months following the formation of High Level Political Mechanism that failed to sort out the widening differences among the parties.

Though doctors have earlier advised to take Koirala abroad for treatment, he refused the offer. He has been suffering from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) which is not curable, according to doctors.

In November, he was taken to Singapore for treatment. nepalnews.com
