UNMIN consults big three parties United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN), amid rising criticism from the parties, has on Sunday consulted with leaders from big three parties over its role in the ongoing peace process. According to Nepali Congress leader Krishna Prasad Sitaula, the discussion concentrated on the UNMIN activities in the last two years and the expectation of the parties from the UN body. Maoist leader Krishna Bahadur Mahara, who also attended the meeting, said despite being critical in public forums, Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) leaders praised UNMIN's role in the peace process during the meeting. However, other party leaders have not concurred with Mahara's views. Sitaula said, "You will know the details later. We will have another round of meeting." The relation between government and the UNMIN has gone cold after the UN political mission refused to reveal the latest exact number of Maoist combatants saying it violates the past agreement. The government is insisting that it needed the date to release budget for the combatants. nepalnews.com |
