TUTH turns into a battle ground; over dozen including campus chief held

At least 20 people were injured when clash erupted following a dispute over the post graduate entrance exams at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH), Maharajgunj, Saturday afternoon.

Police were called in after the students appearing in today's entrance exams for Medicine/Master of Surgery (MD/MS) and Master of Nursing started protest, demanding cancellation of the exams accusing the Dean of the Institute of Medicine, Dr Arun Sayami, of taking bribes from some entrance candidates, promising them enrolment.

The examinees have claimed that the questions of the exam were leaked to some candidates.

According to them, the scuffle started after the police intervened into their protest.

Meanwhile, 14 persons including Chief of Maharajgunj Campus Dr Ram Prasad Uprety were arrested during the incident. Uprety has also accused the Dean of irregularities.

Dean Sayami however brushed aside the allegations against him and said none of the exams would be cancelled. nepalnews.com
