Prime Minister meets NWPP chairman; gets assurance of support to govt

Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal met Nepal Workers and Peasants Party (NWPP) chairman Narayanman Bijukchhe at the latter's residence in Bhaktapur Saturday to discuss the current political scenario and to seek continuous support from the party to the coalition government.

Prime Minister Nepal told reporters after the meeting that Bijukchhe reassured of support to the government. The NWPP has five members in the Constituent Assembly.

PM Nepal is believed to have visited the NWPP chief following reports of the Unified CPN (Maoist) preparing to table no-confidence motion in the legislature parliament against the government.

The meeting also dwelled on some thorny issues like army integration and restructuring of the state, it is learnt.

Though the NWPP has not clarified its position on army integration, it has spoken clearly against the proposal to restructure the state along ethnic lines. The party had earlier proposed to turn the existing 14 zones into federal units. nepalnews.com
