Parliamentary taskforce to visit Darfur A five-member parliamentary taskforce formed by the State Affairs Committee under the legislature parliament is set to fly to Darfur Saturday evening to investigate the reported embezzlement in Nepal Police deployed there. The committee had formed the taskforce some five months ago. However, it had postponed its travel due to delay in fund release by the government. The committee formed the taskforce following news reports of fund embezzlement while purchasing necessary materials and equipment for Nepal Police UN peace mission team deployed in Darfur. Nepal Police had used money from Police Welfare Trust in the purchase. The proposal of home minister Bhim Rawal to release part of the demanded fund was rejected by the council of ministers at the initiation of finance minister Surendra Pandey and parliamentary affairs minister Minendra Rijal.
