Case filed against five persons in connection with Jamim Shah murder

Government lawyers on Thursday moved the Kathmandu District Court against five persons liked with the murder of Spacetime Network chairman Jamim Shah.

Those facing the trail in the high-profile murder case are Jagadish Chand, a former Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Sri Krishna Poudel, Kishor Khadka, Laxman Dhamala and Prakash Chhettri, a suspended Sub-Inspector of Nepal Police.

Chand and Poudel are still at large while the other three accused have already been arrested.

Although police had forwarded the names of seven persons, the district attorney's office discounted two names, Dilip Thapa Magar and Roshan Pandey concluding the available evidence does not suffice to establish their involvement in the murder. Pandey is charged with supplying mobile Sim cards to the accused in the Police's report.

During investigation, police officials had found out that Chand had extensive contacts with Deepak Shahi alias Babbu, a key aide of jailed Indian mafia don Bablu Srivastava who allegedly plotted murder.

The other accused also had connections with Shahi and his gang and had involvement in the broad daylight murder, according to police.

Shah, a one-time media tycoon who owned two broadsheet national dailies, a satellite TV channel and Nepal's biggest cable network, was shot dead inside his car in front of French Embassy in Lazimpat on February 7. nepalnews.com
