Educational institutions shut in Kailali The educational institutions in Kailali district remain shut on Wednesday with the teachers calling an indefinite strike against police misbehavior. The police had used force to disperse the agitating teachers who went to District Education Office to pack-lock it on Tuesday, protesting against the 'biasness' of the local authority while distributing teacher relief quotas. Kailali Nepal Education Association, All Nepal Teachers Association, Democratic Teachers Union and Madhesh Education Forum jointly called the strike and threatened to boycott the upcoming School Leaving Certificate examinations if local authorities continue to ignore their demands. The agitators have also demanded resignation of the District Education Officer and action against the police personnel deployed to disperse the agitators on Tuesday. The district level board examination for grade VIII is scheduled to begin on Thursday. The examination is likely to be affected by the agitation. nepalnews.com |
