Nepal gets demands for industrial trainees from Japan

Nepal has received demands for some 40 industrial trainees from Japanese companies under Japan International Training Cooperation Organisation (JITCO).

Three Nepali outsourcing agencies- Rainbow Overseas Pvt Ltd, Around the World Services and Siddhartha Gautam Overseas Pvt Ltd have got demands for 20, 15 and 5 industrial trainees respectively from Japanese companies.

The JITCO offers industrial training and internship for Nepali workers in 64 occupations and 120 courses as per the bilateral agreement reached last October.

As per JITCO process, the Department of Foreign Employment has to scrutinize the demand from Tokyo-based Nepali diplomatic mission in order to confirm whether the demands are genuine or not JITCO aspirants have to complete a 219-hour or 74-day training course in Japanese language by paying Rs. 7,000 and pass an exam to get the final approval to work as an industrial trainee in Japan.

Moreover, they along with outsourcing companies should have to produce guarantee of their return after one-year training and two-year internship.

The Ministry of Labour and Transport Management has already approved the training course that comprises 90 hours of grammar, 90 hours of speaking and listening, 30 hours of culture, six hours of basic occupational terminology and three hours of Japanese food.

JITCO trainees can earn monthly allowance of Rs 50,000 while interns will earn more than Rs 100,000 a month. nepalnews.com
